Lamond-Riggs Library Invite

The Lamont-Riggs Library is inviting neighborhood residents to help with “creating” their Heritage Wall. Neighbors are invited to provide items listed below under the “What Materials Can I Contribute?”.

Please note that the items and photos or artwork provided are not limited to long-time residents. Current residents are invited to share their photos, artwork, and fabrics.

The Community Day Celebration at the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Library on July 23, 2022 was a success. The purpose of this event was to ensure full community participation since the June 27, 2022 Ribbon Cutting event was held on a weekday.
Various community organizations were represented including your own Lamond-Riggs Library Friends (LRLF). Apple Tree Charter School, DC Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL), DC Works, Riggs-LaSalle Recreation Center, The Committee to Rename the Library, University of District of Columbia (Birtie Backus Campus) and others participated.
In addition, Michelle L. Herman, the artist commissioned by DCPL to develop the Heritage Wall, had a successful day. Several patrons brought material, including The Fort Totten Storytellers, our Fort Totten neighbors. Please note that this opportunity is open to the Michigan Park, North Michigan Park, Pleasant Hills, Queens Chapel, and South Manor Park communities.
Please take note of the following to participate:
