Summer is winding down, which means students will soon return to school. So I’m teaming up with the Ward 5 Education Equity Committee to ensure students have needed supplies for the 2022-2023 school year. Ward 5 families are welcome to join us at Burroughs Elementary School on Saturday, August 20, from 10 am to 12 pm for the third annual Ward 5 Back-to-School Giveaway. This year’s event will feature interactive music, a gaming truck, and snacks. Ward 5 families are eligible to receive one filled backpack per student, and DC Health officials will be on-site to administer COVID-19 vaccines.
