Elevated Respiratory Disease Alert

CPPE
Dear Providers,

On 11/4, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory about early, elevated respiratory disease incidence caused by multiple viruses occurring especially among children with an emphasis on the potential strain this increase could place on our healthcare system. DC Health also issued a HAN on 11/9 highlighting that DC would likely have a higher than normal instance of flu and respiratory disease this season. Please review the recommendations in both the CDC’s HAN and DC Health’s HAN highlighting the importance of optimizing respiratory virus prevention and treatment measures, including prompt vaccination and antiviral treatment.
