Michigan Park Development

The ground preparation for the building of new town houses to the rear of Saint Joseph’s Seminary has begun in earnest. Earth moving equipment is on site and much work is clearly underway.

The focus is solely to the rear of Saint Joseph’s Seminary. The ground to the front and
sides of the Seminary are expected to remain untouched by the development.

Many abatement features have been implemented as standard practice and in response to the concerns of neighbors.  These include prevention of runoff, protection of streetside trees and, importantly, monitoring of vibrations from the heavy machinery.

Dear Washingtonians,
We have an important update regarding eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine in Washington, DC:
Beginning Monday, April 19, all DC residents, ages 16 and older, will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Here is what we need you to do: First and foremost, if you are a DC resident who is not yet vaccinated and you have not yet pre-registered for an appointment, I need you to pre-register right now.
  • You can pre-register on any day, at any time by going to vaccinate.dc.gov.
  • You can also pre-register by calling 1-855-363-0333. The call center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If you are already vaccinated, we need you to reach out to your friends, family, and neighbors and talk to them about their plans to pre-register and get vaccinated. If you are nervous about getting vaccinated, talk to a friend, family member, or health care professional who has already been vaccinated. The vaccines are safe, effective, and the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and our community.
I am incredibly proud of our how our community has stepped up to respond to this pandemic. Now the end is in sight. Let’s finish the fight, DC.

COVID 19 Vaccine Update

Coronavirus Virus Vaccine Update
Ralph Bucksell submits the following information on DC’s Coronavirus Vaccine Preregistration for Seniors 65 & Older

The mayor has published on the internet the city’s plans to deal with the coronavirus.  Members can find the city’s plans to attack the virus and her proposed scheduled to vaccinate our citizens who work and/or live in DC.  The complete discussion may be found at the following web address:  https://coronavirus.dc.gov

The mayor’s web page has been updated to include the mayor’s initial proposed schedule for vaccinating DC residents and essential employees.  Currently, the city is vaccinating only people who work in the medical field.  Starting next week her schedule proposes that citizens 65 and older begin receiving their vaccines.  (Anita Bonds has published an announcement in her newsletter today).  However, the mayor has not announced that the vaccinations will actually begin at that time.  That said, the mayor has posted on her coronavirus web page that citizens 65 and older may preregister for receiving the vaccine.  This will allow the city to contact the seniors directly as soon as they will expand vaccinations to senior citizens.
I have posted the web page instructions on how to preregister to receive the vaccine by clicking on their link below.  Please note that you will need to put your email address or mobile cell phone number so that you can receive instructions from the city on receiving your vaccinations.  Ms. Bonds encourages seniors to preregister as soon as possible so that the city might be able to figure out the best neighborhood locations to distribute the vaccines.
I will continue to check the mayor’s web page daily to keep everyone updated on when all can receive their vaccines.  Note:  I have included the section of the web page below that includes the links to the various discussions.
